'Self-Gift' is an Instagram and Facebook face filter that transforms you into a gift and it's up to you to present yourself in a video or photo and put your acting and presentation into it. For example, you can present yourself as a gift for your loved ones this Christmas or offer yourself as an amazing present to your girlfriend or boyfriends for their birthday. This filter was inspired by Mariah Carry's song "All I want for Christmas is you."⁠—more on that later.

Self Gift Instagram/Facebook filter features more than a dozen variations of gif bows and ones with ribbon decorations. I've used different two gift bows but with different colors, sizes, locations, and effects. So basically, you can alternate between various pre-defined gift bow variations by tapping on the screen. I leave it to you to put your interpretation of it when sharing it with your loved ones.

My favorite ones that I'm sure many of you will enjoy sharing this Christmas, for the new Year 2020 (Ōmisoka 大晦日—or ōtsugomori 大晦 here in Japan) are the first ones. These are gift bows that have metallic shine finish ribbons, and they are semi-transparent. I've added some elegant lighting effects that make them gleam and shine.

I also add some Beauty3000-style lighting effects to the face and beautifier to make the entire effect look more sparkling, lively and exciting to share.

What is the best gift you can give your boyfriend or girlfriend? Well, it's YOU. Use this Self Gift Instagram filter to give yourself as a present for an anniversary, engagement party, birthday, mother's days, etc. It was designed to help you deliver a kawaii Augmented Reality message like no other. I did all the heavy lifting. All you need to do is pose for a selfie and let the effect wrap you nicely with some fancy and decorative metallic-looking gift bows and make sure you are ready to surprise your friends and loved ones.

I've made this Instagram face mask using Spark AR Studio and especially for Chrismas, birthdays but you can use it anytime you want to give a cool gift to a friend. I'll sure be using it for thanksgiving day, New Year's Day, Chrismas Eve and many other occasions.

All I Want for Chrismas is You

There is one other thing that I wanted to share with you. I've given the filter the name 'Self-Gift' for a reason. I want this filter to make people enjoy sharing their love with their loved ones. In a pure way. A way that we try to satisfy the needs and wants of the people we love, rather than just focusing on our own needs. It injects unselfishness into our selfie pictures and videos.

With this camera effect, I want to support and promote the enjoyment of sharing, sacrificing our own desires and needs for other people and to further learn to help and understand each other.

While designing it, it, indirectly, reminded me of a scene from the movie 'The Godfather'. In which Michael and Kay went for Christmas Shopping. Michael asks Kay: "What do you want for Christmas", Kay replied: "Oh, just you.".

This part of the movie is one that I'll never forget. It shows the kind and loving soul of Kay. It also happened on Christmas, and what better time to release this Instagram and Facebook effect than in Chrismas.

It also perfectly fits the song by Mariah Carey, "All I Want For Chrismas Is You". One of my favorite Chrismas songs ever written in my opinion. This song is mood-lifting, that I enjoy listening to it often.

This Self-gift filter is an important filter for me. I do hope that it will serve a good purpose than just being a "cool filter" that people enjoy using.
